In a significant development aimed at bolstering economic growth and fostering skill development, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo conducted an extensive review of the implementation of two crucial Centrally Sponsored Schemes - the PM Vishwakarma and Raising and Accelerating MSME Productivity (RAMP) schemes by the Department of Industries & Commerce (I&C) in the Union Territory (UT).

The high-level meeting, was attended by  Commissioner Secretary I&C, Secretaries from RDD and SDD, MDs, and representatives from the Ministry of MSME and NSDC, along with Heads of Departments from Kashmir, Jammu, and other concerned officials, underscored the administration's commitment to ensuring the success of these schemes.

Chief Secretary Dulloo underscored the paramount importance of devising effective strategies for training and capacity building of artisans enrolled in the PM Vishwakarma scheme. He emphasized the need for district officials to personally oversee the training centers, ensuring that aspirants receive top-notch training as mandated by the scheme's guidelines.

Highlighting the significance of previous action taken, Dulloo stressed the importance of striking a balance between training initiatives and registrations across various trades. He expressed concerns over the low participation in some trades and urged the department to enhance awareness among artisans to fully capitalize on the scheme's benefits.

CS also sought updates on the credit linkage of registered artisans with financial institutions and the distribution of toolkits, stressing the importance of timely implementation as per scheme guidelines.

Turning his attention to the RAMP scheme, CS Attal Dulloo directed officials to take proactive measures to formalize the MSME sector and create an enabling ecosystem for its growth. He called for the development of effective strategies to provide training, exposure, and support, aimed at nurturing MSMEs in the region to match the success seen in other parts of the country.

Commissioner Secretary I&C, Vikramjit Singh, provided detailed insights into the department's activities, outlining the eligibility criteria and benefits under the PM Vishwakarma scheme. He emphasized the department's efforts in providing collateral-free credit support and monitoring progress to ensure the scheme's success.

Administrative Secretary SDD, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, shed light on the extensive training programs conducted for artisans, with a focus on trades such as tailoring, masonry, and carpentry. He highlighted the substantial number of artisans trained and stressed the need for providing advanced skills and necessary assistance.

MD TPO, Khalid Jahangir, presented a comprehensive overview of the objectives of the RAMP scheme and the extensive consultations conducted across districts. He revealed the staggering number of MSMEs in the UT and discussed initiatives aimed at sector formalization and promoting industry-academic collaboration.

The meeting concluded with in-depth discussions on various aspects, including industry-academic collaboration, training opportunities, and incubation initiatives through different universities.

This meticulous review reflects the unwavering commitment of the UT administration towards fostering entrepreneurship, skill development, and economic prosperity, thereby laying the foundation for sustainable growth and employment generation in the region.
