Forest Protection Force (FPF) Rajwar group of K-10 Langate, in coordination with the concerned beat staff, seized 33 illicitly sawn kail logs, measuring approximately 68 cubic feet in compartment number 26 of the Wadder Block, Rajwar in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Deputy Director Forest Protection Force K-10 Langate Manzoor Ahmad told Devnal Whispers that acting on specific intelligence, the Forest Protection Force (FPF) Rajwar group of K-10 Langate, in coordination with the concerned beat staff, conducted a day-long search operation in compartment 26 of the Wadder Block, Rajwar in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. "The operation, carried out under the supervision of AD Headquarters Manmeet Singh, led to the seizure of 33 illicitly sawn kail logs, measuring approximately 68 cubic feet," he said.

Manzoor said that the seized timber has been placed under safe custody and handed over to the concerned beat staff against a proper suprudnama.

To a question about involvement of the local forest staff, he said their involvement was being ascertained; however, the very act of illicit logs being dumped within the forest points to clear leniency in the discharge of their duties, which remains a serious matter for investigation.
